Swara Yoga Academy is a registered yoga school, having existed in some form since 2008. Our Registration number is #34382.
What is the Yoga Alliance?
The YA is one of the governing organization that maintains standards in the yoga world. Their main role is to issue yoga teacher registrations; being a registered yoga teacher shows that you have completed a program that the Yoga Alliance recognizes as legitimate.
They also provide a service for finding yoga teachers or trainings as well as continuing education, community support and enforcement of sexual misconduct standards for yoga teachers and schools.
Do I Need to Register
and How Do I?
Swara Yoga Academy is a registered school with the Yoga Alliance at both 200 and 500 Hour Levels at the number #34383. If you take our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, you can register easily. If you complete 3 of our modules and get 300 hours of class, you can apply for a 500 Hour certificate. All of our teachers are certified to at least the 500 Hour level.
You really only need to register if you are going to teach at a yoga studio who requires their teachers to be RYTs (Registered Yoga Teachers). Being registered can also help you to get cheaper insurance in some places.
If you wish to register, you must go to the YA website and fill out the requisite forms. There is an initial registration fee plus a yearly membership fee. You will have to look at their site to see what the costs are for your needs.
